DESCRIPTION:
The autonomic (automatic) nerve fibers of the pelvis. These are
networked throughout the pelvis and innervate all of the
structures there. Both parasympathetic and sympathetic autonomic
branches are present. The pudendal nerve is also shown. It is
not a nerve that supplies automatic functions; it supplies
voluntary actions of the external sphincters of the urethra and
the anus, as well as sensory innervation of the penis.
