DESCRIPTION:
Superior view of the talus and the calcaneus. Note the concave
surface on the anterior part of the calcaneus for articulation
with the cuboid bone. The lateral process extends downward like
a wedge, contacting the calcaneus just posterior to the
calcaneus’ articular surface for the cuboid bone. The lateral
process plays a role in the mechanics of calcaneal fracture.
