DESCRIPTION:
A posterior view of the ankle and heel with the large Achilles
tendon removed. Note that the ankle and feet are largely
stabilized by the strong ligaments. Fracture of the calcaneus
destabilizes the structures above it by causing misalignment and
unbalance.
