DETAIL:

DESCRIPTION:
The relation of the calcaneus, cuboid and talus bones, as seen
from above. If the calcaneus is fractured, the surrounding bones
become unstable in many cases. The posterior superior part of
the calcaneus is a roughened surface that serves as the
insertion site of the Achilles tendon or tendo calcaneus. The
rugged undersurface of the posterior part of the calcaneus is
the surface that absorbs the heel strike as we walk.
