DESCRIPTION:
The talus (ankle) and the calcaneus (heel) have been pulled
apart in this view. The talus is turned over to show the joint
(articular) surfaces; the calcaneal joint surfaces are also seen
in this view. The superior surface has three articular surfaces
that are separated by an oblique groove that forms the floor of
the tarsal sinus. All three of the superior articular surfaces
articulate with the talus, the large ankle bones just above
them.
