DETAIL:

DESCRIPTION:
Lateral view of the right foot and ankle. The ligaments here are weaker
than those of the medial side of the ankle; there are more
lateral sprains of the joint than medial sprains. The achilles
tendon attaches to the heel bone (calcaneus). The ankle bones
are called tarsals, the foot bones are the metatarsals, and the
toes are the phalanges. (See
also medial view of the right foot and ankle.)
