ILLUSTRATION NUMBER: 17-4A1MEV-L6

DETAIL:

DESCRIPTION: Ligaments of the pelvis—normal anatomy. Muscles and ligaments surround and attach to the sacroiliac joint (SI joint) front and back. These structures can all be the source of pain if the SI joints are inflamed or dysfunctional. Much of the integrity of the sacroiliac joint depends on the integrity of this ligamentous structure. The most commonly disrupted and/or torn ligaments are the iliolumbar ligament and the posterior sacroiliac ligament.
