DETAIL:

DESCRIPTION:
The relation of the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments to
the flexed knee joint. The ACL is attached medially to the area
between the tibial condyles and posteriorly to the inside of the
lateral condyle of the femur. The ACL resists anterior movement
of the tibia, hyperextension, and excessive medial rotation. The
medial collateral ligament helps to hold the tibia and femur
steady, especially when the knee is flexed.
