DESCRIPTION:
The brachial plexus is made up of roots arising from the fifth
cervical to the first thoracic spinal nerves. These nerves
supply the upper limb and most of the shoulder and superficial
back muscles. The respiratory diaphragm is also supplied by the
brachial plexus. The fifth and sixth cervical nerves contribute
to many large terminal nerves. Despite the complex sharing of
nerve fibers, damage to any part of the plexus has serious
consequences.
