ILLUSTRATION NUMBER: 16-61MEV-L6

DETAIL:

DESCRIPTION: Blood supply of nasal septum. The blood supply of the nasal cavity is copious and varied. Epistaxis (“nose bleed”) may be severe and even life-threatening. It is important to convey the seriousness of nasal bleeding when discussing cases involving nasal trauma. Because of the great amount of blood released as a result of many nasal fractures, there is an immediate danger of the injured person swallowing and vomiting blood, thus compromising the airway. An added danger is intractable bleeding.
