DESCRIPTION: The course of the recurrent laryngeal nerves. The repair of the fractured larynx often requires open repair of the cartilages and the surrounding tissues. One of the most common complications of both surgery and the initial injury to the larynx is hoarseness, due to injury of the recurrent laryngeal nerve.
