DETAIL:

DESCRIPTION:
Horizontal section through the eyeball. Note the division of
the part in front of the lens (the anterior segment) into an
anterior and a posterior chamber. The part of the eye behind the
lens is called the posterior segment. It contains the vitreous
(glass-like) body. The ciliary body is made of muscle and
vessels. When the muscle contracts, it changes the shape of the
lens. This occurs when the eye focuses on near objects.
