DESCRIPTION:
The cellular layers of the retina. Note that the receptor cells,
the rods and cones, actually face away from the incoming light.
Light bounces off the pigment in the retina and then stimulates
the receptor cells. The optic nerve then carries the signal
toward the optic cortex in the occipital lobe at the back of the
brain.
