DESCRIPTION:
View of the spinal cord and its bony vertebral covering. The
characteristic butterfly shape of the gray matter is seen in the
center of the cord. The “wings of the butterfly” are called
horns. The larger ventral horn is made up of motor cells; the
dorsal horn is composed of sensory cells. The spinal nerve is
made of delicate rootlets from both horns.
