DESCRIPTION:
The major veins and venous sinuses of the brain. Nearly all
drain into the internal jugular vein. The sinuses are covered by
dura mater, part of the protective covering of the brain. Some
veins of the face and scalp communicate with the venous system
within the cranium and are therefore a route by which infections
may spread to the cranial cavity.
