DETAIL:

DESCRIPTION:
A sagittal section through the female pelvis. Note the proximity
of the rectum to the posterior vaginal wall. The bladder is
located behind the pubis. The female reproductive system is open
to the external environment, since there is a path for bacteria
to enter at the vagina and proceed through the system to the end
of the uterine (fallopian) tube. Here it can enter the pelvis.
