DESCRIPTION:
The thoracic (chest) cavity. The frame of the cavity primarily
is the ribs, but the costal cartilage, sternum, and vertebrae
also contribute. The muscles between the ribs are the
intercostal muscles. They move the ribs during respiration. The
largest respiratory muscle is the diaphragm. It divides the
thoracic cavity from the abdominal cavity.
