DESCRIPTION:
Composition of the blood. These drawings represent the most
common cells found in the blood. Note the lack of a nucleus in
the biconcave oxygen-carrying red blood cells (erythrocytes).
The test tube contains blood that was spun in a centrifuge to
separate its component cells and fluid. White blood cells,
called leukocytes, are very active in fighting infection,
disease, or allergies depending on their specialty.
