DESCRIPTION:
Extraocular muscles of the right eye. Most are supplied by the
oculomotor nerve (third cranial nerve [CN III]). The exceptions
are the lateral rectus muscle—supplied by the abducens nerve (CN
VI) and the superior oblique muscle—supplied by the trochlear
nerve (CN IV). When the oculomotor nerve is paralyzed, these two
muscles continue to act on the eye. The pupil then points “down
and out.”
