DESCRIPTION:
The musculature of the tongue. The tongue is essentially just
the genioglossus muscle, which extends from just inside the
mandible (chin, hence “genio”) and forms the bulk of the tongue.
Innervation is by the hypoglossal nerve (the twelfth cranial
nerve).
