DETAIL:

DESCRIPTION:
Four articulated thoracic vertebrae. Observe the ligaments
holding the ribs in place. Note that each rib articulates with
two vertebrae and is able to move up and down during breathing.
Fracture of three or more consecutive ribs may cause serious
breathing difficulties. The ribs also protect the intercostal
nerves and vessels, which run between them.
